About

Meet the Artist

Hi, I'm Tara. I'm a Pop Realism oil painter, which is a fancy way of saying I use classical oil technique to paint slightly ridiculous things and take them very seriously. A grumpy cat on a psychedelic adventure. A hot dog with attitude. A banana having its Warhol moment.

I've been painting for twenty years and hold a BFA from Buffalo State College, so there's real craft behind the silliness. For years I made the art I thought I was supposed to make. Then in 2020 something clicked, and I decided to only paint what actually makes me happy: the fun, the familiar, and the fantastical. Best decision I ever made.

Life is Better with Fun Art

My style is a mash-up of opposites. I love the electric color of Pop Art and the boldness of modernism, painted with the kind of luminous detail you'd expect from the Old Masters. I work alla prima, with loose, textured brushwork, turning everyday things into pieces that are both technically serious and genuinely fun to live with.

When I'm not in the studio, my husband and I are usually on the road. We travel the country in our custom van and Airstream with our aussiedoodle, Banksy, while our cats hold down the fort back in New York. The hikes, the landscapes, and the disc golf rounds between shows all sneak their way into the work. These days my art hangs in homes, galleries, and gift shops all over, and I'd love for yours to be next.

About the Prints

Every original is hand-painted in oil. I reproduce each one in-house as a giclée print on Epson Cold Press Natural 340gsm fine art paper with UltraChrome PRO10 pigment inks, so it keeps the full color and detail of the original. There's a half-inch white border for easy matting and framing, and every print is signed by hand.
